The Dooling 29 was the "little brother" of the iconic Dooling 61 racing engine of 1947, using the same "bulge bypass" design arrangement. Introduced in 1949, it was an instant success, rapidly becoming the most successful 5 cc racing engine of its era. Its design influenced that of a surprising number of competing models originating in countries all around the world. Although eventually outclassed by later designs, it still remains one of the most successful and influential 5 cc racing engines of all time.
