The Hallam model engines constituted not only the first model engine range to be offered commercially in Britain but one of the first such ranges to be offered commercially anywhere in the world, including America. Manufactured over a period of 20 years beginning in 1930 by J. Hallam & Son of Poole in Dorset, the Hallam engines richly deserve recognition as one of the world’s pioneering model engine ranges.
J. Hallam & Son produced a surprising variety of designs over their 20-year involvement with model engines. These included both four-stroke and two-stroke models in a wide variety of displacements as well as a single diesel. Most of their designs were offered both as complete engines and in casting kit form for home construction.
