O.S. Max-6

The O.S. Max-6 glow-plug motor of 0.988 cc (.060 cuin.) displacement was the smallest engine ever produced by the famous O.S. company of Osaka, Japan. Its design generally followed that of the larger models in the O.S. Max series which extended from the .06 model all the way up to the .35 cuin. Max designs. Like all O.S. engines, it was constructed to a very high standard.

Introduced in 1961, the little Max-6 was an excellent performer, peaking at around 0.12 BHP in the 16,000 - 17,000 RPM range. However, it faced significant marketing challenges due to the fact that its displacement didn't match any recognized competition class. Consequently, relatively few MAX-6 engines were produced and sales ended around 1965-66. That and being the smallest-ever member of the O.S. model engine range makes surviving MAX-6’s quite collectible, fetching significantly more than similar engines from other makers.
