The Pierce 29 series from Chicago, Illinois is one of the more obscure ranges from America. The engines in this very short-lived series were very well-made, also performing well up to contemporary standards.
The Pierce range appears to have had some connection with the far better-known Forster marque, also from Chicago, but the exact nature of that connection is obscure. All that can be said is the similarities between the original Pierce 29 model and its contemporary Forster competitor are far too great to be coincidental. There’s an untold story there ……….
In an article on the Pierce 29 series which may be found elsewhere on this website, I’ve discussed the possibilities, described the engines and subjected them to bench tests, finding them to be well-made units which were very acceptable performers by the standards of their day. Their story is well worth preserving!
