The Grayson engines were one of the first ranges to enter the market commercially in Britain, doing so in 1930 and continuing in production up to the onset of WW2 in 1939. They were manufactured by the long-established toolmaking firm of E. Gray & Son of London. Both four-stroke and two-stroke models were produced. The Grayspec 14.5 cc two-stroke model of 1933 was the first lightweight model aero engine to appear in Britain, and indeed among the first to appear commercially anywhere in the world. Despite these claims to fame, the Grayson range appears to have become largely forgotten today. To set the record straight, a detailed article on the Grayson range may be found elsewhere on this website.
