The Taifun model engine range from Germany was one of the best-known and more highly-respected model engine marques of the classic era. Manufactured by Hans Hörnlein of Vöhringen, West Germany, the engines were marketed worldwide by the famous Johannes Graupner company of Kirchheim unter Teck, West Germany. The range was very successful in its day, enjoying a market tenure which extended from 1952 through to the mid 1970's.
The Taifun range was quite extensive, with diesels in displacements ranging from 1 cc up to 3.5 cc as well as several glow-plug models which appeared during the 1960's. The engines were very well made, also performing at levels which were well up to contemporary standards.
