M.E.C. 1.2 cc diesel
The M.E.C. 1.2 cc diesel was an amazingly compact and lightweight 1.2 cc barstock diesel which was produced in very small quantities to very high standards by an unknown North London manufacturer during the period May 1948 - July 1949. It was marketed exclusively by the old-established model supply business of Premier Aeromodels, who were located at 2A Hornsey Rise just to the north of Islington.
The little M.E.C. had a pretty good performance for an engine of its era as well as its very compact size and low weight of only 55 gm (1.94 ounces) all complete with tank. It seems to have developed around 0.060 bhp @ 7,000 rpm, demonstrating an outstanding ability to swing a sizeable prop for an engine of its displacement. Handling qualities were also excellent.
