The Ueda 55 was one of a short-lived range of model engines which was produced from 1964 until 1970 by an automobile accessory manufacturing firm in Tokyo, Japan. Although very handsome engines which were capable of a useful performance, the Ueda range suffered from a number of design anomalies as well as a rather ineffective quality control program. A good example was very good, but all too many of them fell short of that standard. Even so, the striking appearance of the engines makes them well worth their place in any present-day collection of classic R/C powerplants. The complete Ueda story may be found in a detailed article on this web-site.
